I don't care if he releases 10 masala films after another as long as they are well thought through and entertaining without too much rubbish! I would just be happy if Dilwale would be a CE type movie - rather then a HNY kind of movie...
Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘#Fan’ to have never before seen VFX; trailer coming out soon! |
The year 2015 seems to be going well for Bollywood, with the recent success of content driven films like Baby, Piku and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. But, what everyone has been waiting for with bated breath has been some confirmation on the Shahrukh Khan starrer Fan under the Yash Raj Films banner.
While the star has been travelling a lot in the past few months to support his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (though they didn’t make it into the top 4), he was also spotted in the city of Dubrovnik in Croatia shooting a few chase and action sequences with a smaller crew.
The film is going to witness some radical use of visual effects that is being handled by SRK’s company Redchillies.vfx with Harry Hingorani on board as the VFX supervisor on the project. In the recent past the team at Redchillies.vfx had worked closely with Autodesk India to present SRK with a one-of-its-kind life sized 3D printed model, and in an earlier interaction with AnimationXpress, the Redchillies.VFX team had mentioned that they would use similar techniques and more to recreate a younger SRK as well.
According to a tweet by SRK, Fan is the first movie that has been shot inside the Madame Tussauds Museum, “Thanx Madame Tussauds. Allowing us 2 shoot Fan with all ‘ur’ stars & our star Maneesh. Very gracious of u. 1st film to shot at ur premises.”
Few sources who are working at YRF Studios have confirmed that the ‘core team’ on the project, which includes Maneesh Sharma, Aditya Chopra, Shahrukh Khan and a few others are currently working round the clock to get the trailer out as soon as possible and also get a fix on the release date.
There are a few shoot schedules that are still pending and the edits are currently going on, following which the VFX and other post-production elements will commence on the film.
Does Animationxpress know something about FAN that SRK doesn't? If the film has been delayed till 2016 then will they show the trailer of the film anytime soon?
Lol there was this one interview in Feb/March (when the release date was still Aug 14) where a reporter asked SRK what the release date of FAN was and he said he did not know yet but then someone next to him corrected him saying that YRF confirmed Aug 14 and SRK was like "oh ok August 14".
this is getting crazier by the day. srk says he doesn't know if the film will release this year or not. Now we have an article that says trailer will be out soon. Are they planning for the trailer release on July 17 with the release of Bajrangi Bhaijaan?
Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan was to release on August 14 but got pushed because of VFX work in the film. There was also talk of it releasing in November. Then we heard the makers were planning to release the movie on Republic Day, January 26 next year. But the VFX of the film will be complete only in February 2015. Now we hear that producer Aditya Chopra is planning to release the film in April, before the IPL. Filmmakers have begun ignoring the IPL timeline when it comes to releasing their films so that it gets a clear window.
Bollywood feels incomplete without the staple song-and-dance routines but since the starting of 2015, many films have somehow managed to defy this age-old formula and still be successful. Like Akshay Kumar’s Baby and Anushka Sharma’s NH10. And now, YRF’s next, Fan starring Shah Rukh Khan will follow the no naach-gaana route too.
A source from the production reveals, “There are no songs in the film. It’s a very content driven emotional tale and it does not need the typical Bollywood naach-gaana. Maneesh was very clear about that from day one. There will be two songs made purely for promotional purposes but they won’t be there in the screenplay.” The makers feel that the trademark song and dance routine will dilute the content of the film and hence have decided to avoid it.
Fan has been in the loop for quite some time now. After the actor completed the shoot for the film, despite his injury, he is now finishing off the 10-day patchwork for the Maneesh Sharma film. Our source tells us, “Shah Rukh was busy wrapping up Raees’ first schedule and then moved on to finish his first schedule with the Dilwale team in Bulgaria. He was back last week and despite his injured knee, he went ahead to complete the patchwork for Fan.”
Expected to release in the first half of 2016, we hear the makers are eyeing for a release around Good Friday next year. “It might release on March 25- Good Friday itself or the week after, that is on April 1. But nothing has been finalised. Adi, SRK and Maneesh are still deciding what will give their film the best window and will make an official announcement soon.”
Sharma has given young cinemagoers a new definition of the big-screen love story. But enough of romance already! “Main toh yahan thriller banane aaya tha!” Sharma mock-wails, taking us back almost a decade ago with the first story he ever pitched to Aditya Chopra. It’s a saga he loves recounting.
Nine years later, just before Fan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, wraps up, Sharma isn’t worried about his creative vision being eclipsed by a big star. “SRK is the biggest star, but once he’s on set, his stardom flies out of the window. Before shooting, he assured me I could take any amount of retakes and he wouldn’t bat an eyelid. He said, ‘50 takes tak toh main bhi kuch nahi kahoonga. At 70, I’ll probably look at you and ask, am I that bad?’ He did workshops with me for Fan, which I’ve heard is not a very common practice for him.”
Sharma is not showing any nerves. Yet. “I’m very detached from all my films after they’re made; I change channels as soon as any of them appear on TV. And I’m going to be detached from this expensive, star-driven project too.”
National Award winner Namrata Rao to edit Shah Rukh Khan's Fan
HIMESH MANKAD|12 October 2015
Shah Rukh Khan and Yash Raj Films have teamed up for Fan, which has managed to grab attention for all the right reason. The film, which went on floors in February this year, will star Shah Rukh Khan in a double role, one as a fan and the other as a superstar.
Editing is one of the most important aspects of post production of a movie. For Fan, YRF has roped in national award winning editor Namrata Rao. Rao has, in the past, delivered some memorable hits, including Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), Kaahani (2012), 2 States (2014) and Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015). The editor won a national award for Kahaani - one of Bollywood's finest thrillers - at the 60th National Film Awards in 2013. With Fan falling into the same genre, it will be interesting to see if Rao is able to recreate, or exceed, the Kahaani magic with her crisp editing.
Directed by Maneesh Sharma, Fan is scheduled to release on 15 April 2016
Shah Rukh Khan's Fan is a great film, says National Award winner Namrata Rao
Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Fan is one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2016. The film, which presents the superstar in a completely different avatar, has managed to strike the right chords and generate hype with its teaser trailer.
Working in a Shah Rukh Khan film is a high-pressure job, considering the immense expectations people have from his films. National Award winning film editor Namrata Rao spoke to Catch about the huge pressure to meet audience expectations for Fan.
"I think we have made a great film. So I don't think it will be difficult to meet the huge expectations people have from Fan. I don't think of a film as very big or very small, as for me editing is all about enjoyment. I enjoyed Fan as much as I enjoyed Titli."
Like most Indians, Rao is also a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan. On working with the superstar, Rao said,
"Shah Rukh Khan is fantastic to work with. He is not at all a star when he comes on set. He is chilled out, he is a team member, has a brilliant sense of humour and will always have a take on everything. It is so much fun working with him. He has done all the stunts himself in Fan; he is always ready to do more takes. It is actually very humbling and inspiring to see him. Shah Rukh Khan has done so much work but he is still so energetic and enthusiastic. I am a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan and wanted to work with him again after Jab Tak Hai Jaan and it finally happened".
On the Maneesh Sharma directorial, Rao said,
"Fan is in a new space altogether, so it was a refreshing experience to work on the film."
With the film being slated for a release on 15 April 2016, Rao revealed that there was still some work left on the film, which would be wrapped up soon.
"Fan still has about 4-5 days of shooting left," said Namrata.
Fan’s second teaser to be unveiled on SRK’s birthday!
Shah Rukh Khan totally adores his fans and Maneesh Sharma’s Fan is a film really close to his heart. The first teaser created quite a buzz and his followers are ardently waiting for the trailer. But before we can lay eyes on the official trailer, on November 2nd we will get to see the second teaser of the film.
Every year on SRK’s birthday, there is media euphoria at Mannat. But this year on his 50th birthday, SRK will unveil the second teaser of the film.
A source told DNA, “The second teaser of Fan will be unveiled on SRK’s birthday. Fan is a very special film for Shah Rukh and that’s why he’s decided the launch the second teaser himself on his 50th birthday.”
The same report quoted Namrata Rao, Fan’s editor saying, “The first teaser only showed that Shah Rukh plays two characters — one of a superstar and the other of a fan. The second teaser will give you an idea of what the film is about.”
Woah! Now that’s exciting piece of news for SRKians!
you guys know that FAN and Dilwale are being produced by two different production houses right ? i dont get the link you are making regarding the focus/promo/promotion of both films....
Each production house has it is own strategy and don't have to collaborate with each other just because both films happen to have the same hero LOL
I know that both films is from different production houses.i just thought if they release fan teaser on 2nd November than when the trailer of dilwale will release? Because dilwale is too short time to release...otherwise I am happy both films have SRK wich come first wich 2nd I never mind...
SRK Wants Fan To Be Tightly Edited Says Namrata Rao Oct 23rd, 2015 by Koimoi.com Team
Film editor Namrata Rao, who has worked on films like “Kahaani” and “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”, is also the part of Shah Rukh Khan starrer “Fan”. She says the superstar wants his film to be “tightly edited.”
Shah Rukh himself is man of details and believes in complete detailing of all his projects.
” ‘Fan‘ is a thriller so it will be a tight film,” added Rao.
Just like any other girl, King Khan is a heartthrob of Rao as well.
Sharing her fan moment, she said, “I am Huge SRK fan. When I entered the film industry, my one dream was to dance with the King Khan and my that dream was accomplished on the wrap-up party of ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan‘ where I danced with Shah Rukh to the song ‘Chhaiya chhaiya‘. Now I can take retirement,” she laughed.
EXCLUSIVE: Fan trailer to release on Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday on November 2
Shah Rukh Khan will turn 50 come November 2. And this year will be really special for the actor as well as his fans. Wondering why? SRK has something special in store for his fans. Well, the actor has revealed that the trailer of Fan which will see the actor in the double role will be out on his birthday.
Two days ago, the superstar released the official logo of Fan which again was really touching. The logo had photographs of his real life fans. The logo was first released by Shah Rukh Khan’s fan club and the actor then retweeted the post saying, “Ok our ‘Fan’ team being so stingy stingy and showing such little bits of the film. Chalo abhi logo hi sahi.” In the logo clip, the fans’ voice which says, “I am a big fan…” is merged with the theme of Fan. According to sources, the Dilwale actor and his team has planned this special surprise for all his fans. The Fan team ran a contest asking Shah Rukh fans to participate in the Fan challenge. At the end of the contest, 100 lucky winners were chosen and their profile pictures were used to make the FAN logo. Isn’t it special? Not too long ago, the makers of Fan had released the teaser of Fan which showed the Happy New Year actor doing his signature pose and a fan impersonating SRK during an award performance. Produced by Yash Raj Films, Fan is directed by Band Baaja Baaraat director Maneesh Sharma. The film will see Khan playing the role of a superstar as well as his fan. Fan will also star Waluscha De Souza and will hit theaters on April 15, 2016.
