The cumulative business in 2017 may be good but the success rate is just four successful films out of 52 releases. Badrinath Ki Dulhania is the biggest hit of the first quarter followed by Jolly LLB 2. Raees under performed but was still a success. The film was a hit in the Overseas market. The Ghazi Attack was the surprise of the first quarter as it did pretty well in Mumbai circuit to emerge a success. The film did nearly half of its business in Mumbai circuit.

The other major releases of the first quarter like Ok Jaanu, Commando 2, Phillauri and Naam Shabana (film had big fall on Wednesday which sealed its status) all flopped at the box office in India and Overseas. The classifications of the first quarter of 2017 are as follows.
