It's still five days to 2014, but Farah Khan decided to wish her team a Happy New Year well in advance with a pool party on her building terrace. Boman Irani and Vivan Shah got a dunking, but Abhishek Bachchan managed to duck away citing ill health. Shah Rukh, we learn, was in high spirits, owing perhaps to the fact that his bete noire and Farah's husband Shirish Kunder was conspicuous by his absence. So SRK came, charmed, and then left straight for the airport to catch a flight out to Phuket for a family vacation.
SRK and Farah Khan will yet again shoot for a multi-starrer song for Happy New Year Shah Rukh Khan's and Farah Khan's last collaboration Om Shanti Omhad created waves across the nation when the two got almost the entire industry to put in a special appearance for a song in the film. Now we hear the two are recreating this magic for their upcoming film Happy New Year. Sources close to the film tell us that the song will be a sure shot blockbuster. Nice!
I hope it's not as long as Deewangi. Because to be honest, it's way too long and pointless. Some of the scenes especially towards the end of Deewangi were repetitive just to feature all the stars involved.

^I agree that it was to long but I didn't find it pointless for the story.
But this is about HNY and not OSO, so I rather stay on topic . I have to say I am looking forward to the movie a lot despite the fact that I don't expect anything new from Farah. I mean the way she presents a story. I am sure we will have cool scenses, the usual Farah humor and cameos of actors (her way of telling everbody how loved she is in the industry - oops, sorry - a little sarcasmn from my side). I am okay with all of it because I have my 2,5 or 3h Shah Rukh enjoying here . Nothing else matters to me when it comes to certain directors if you know what I mean. I don't expect Farah Khan to give Shah Rukh the possibilty of a challenging portrayal of a character. But she will make sure that we can enjoy his performance and for the ladies, that he'll look awesome hahah. And he will make sure that we'll see something different from him because he always does this - be it in short sequences, how he moves, how he uses his voice and so on. As I always say, he never fails to surprise me (no matter who his director is). Oops again - this should be in a discussion thread ... I think *blush*
Deepika Padukone as Maharashtrian Bar Dancer in SRK starrer IndiaGlitz [Friday, December 27, 2013]
After being a Tamilian, the superhit tall beauty Deepika Padukone turns Aamchi Mulgi of Mumbai...
In her forthcoming film, the most awaited Farah Khan's directorial 'Happy New Year' (HNY), Deepika is said to be playing a Maharashtrian girl who is a bar dancer by profession.
Although Deepika's character will not a heavy Marathi accent like how her Tamil was in 'Chennai Express', she will carry a slight slang of the language in HNY. Her
Since the multi-starrer has been touted to be a musical drama, it is now heard that most of the dance and music numbers revolves around Deepika's character. Sources claim that the filmmaker has planned lavish and grand dances of the actress. "Raw and real, like they are performed at beer bars. There will be dancing to old hit songs by Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle," said one source.
Hmmmm, reminds us of Shantipriya of 'Om Shanti Om' where Deepika, a debutant then, had done a brief bar dancer's role in a song number in the film. The film which was also helmed by Farah and had Shah Rukh Khan in lead.
Sonu Sood flaunts a perfect set of abs and has been making sure that he keeps everyone on the sets of "Happy New Year" fit too.
Sonu is confident that after the next schedule of the film, there will be visible changes in the way everyone looks.
"Everyone is following a fitness regime. For the last schedule, I was absent for 10 days and everyone told me that they gained two to three kg in that period. When we were shooting, everyone used to have salads and junk food was not allowed on the set," the 41-year-old said here Monday at the unveiling of the cover of Health and Nutrition magazine featuring him.
The film also features Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Deepika Padukone.
"I remember I hid Shah Rukh's chocolates in Dubai and he was hunting for them and he knew that I must have hid them. So when you have everyone who wants to be fit, they are on their toes. We still have a long schedule of 80-90 days and I think after 90 days, you will see a huge change in everyone," he added.
Sonu was last seen in "R...Rajkumar" in a negative role.
Anurag Kashyap to share screen with Shah Rukh Khan Prashant Singh, Hindustan Times Mumbai, January 07, 2014
He might be known for his directing skills, but Anurag Kashyap has tried his hand at acting too (remember his cameos in films like Shagird; 2011, Black Friday, Dev.D and Luck by Chance; both 2009).
And the latest we’ve heard is that the film-maker has been roped in by Farah Khan for her next biggie, the Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer, Happy New Year.
"It’s not a very big role. But it will definitely surprise audiences. It was Farah’s idea to get Anurag to be part of it," says an insider.
Interestingly, the Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) director is playing a film-maker in the film, and has already shot for his part. When contacted, Farah confirms the news, saying, "(There’s) still time (to go). (But it’s a) very interesting cameo."
The choreographer-director has already shot with other directors — her brother Sajid Khan and Prabhu Dheva for her Diwali release. Also, rumours are rife that she might rope in Karan Johar too for a cameo.
Farah Khan has gone to great lengths to keep her multi-starrer caper Happy New Year under wraps. But Mirror lensman Raju Shelar captured the entire star cast, including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Abhishek Bachchan, in a rather eye-watering combination of neon hues, sequins and pink shoes, filming a dance at Kamalistan on Wednesday afternoon.
A source from the production told Mirror, "All the actors have been rehearsing for this song sequence for the past one month. A hall was booked in a city studio where Farah (director Farah Khan) trained her actors regularly. Since there are a lot of acrobatic moves and Farah wants to shoot it in a stylized manner a lot of rehearsals were needed before the camera rolled."
The source added that the song composed by Vishal-Shekhar will be shot over 10 days on a huge set in Kamalistan Studio. More than 2000 dancers are there along with the stars. "Deepika's pink costume has been designed by Manish Malhotra. The pink shoes made some of the actors reluctant but once in front of the camera they submitted," adds the source
Happy New Year keeps Farah too busy, even for brother Sajid
India Today Online New Delhi, January 14, 2014 | UPDATED 16:45 IST
Brother-sister duo Farah and Sajid Khan seem to have hit a rocky patch recently.
Director and choreographer Farah Khan has apparently refused to choreograph the dance numbers for her brother Sajid's upcoming film Humshakals. However, Farah's upcoming Happy New Year does have Sajid in a cameo appearance.
According to a leading daily, when Sajid approached Farah to choreograph the songs for his film, a curt 'no' is what is got.
A source close to the daily was quoted saying, "Farah has always choreographed the dance numbers in Sajid's films, and most of them have gone on to become major hits, like 'Anarkali Disco Chali' track from his last 'Housefull 2'."
"Farah is occupied with the shooting of 'Happy New Year', and she explained this to Sajid. Being a filmmaker himself, he understood her quandary and roped in Ahmed Khan as they want to shoot in the next few weeks."
Choreographer Ahmed Khan has apparently confirmed the news, saying, "Yes, I will be doing the songs in 'Humshakals' as Farah was too caught up with 'Happy New Year'. There are three songs, one a nightclub number which we'll shoot in Mumbai, one in Alibag and another in Mauritius. We hope to wrap the songs up by the first week of February."
Who cares. I think it's good she's occupied with HNY. Hope it's the biggest hit of her career. Her last, Tees Maar Khan was some crap! Thank god her husband isn't associated with HNY as well. Let's her put her full focus on this film.

Farah Khan on their "crazy cameos" in Happy New Year.
After Mallaika Arora Khan and brother Sajid Khan, Farah Khan has added two more names to the list of special appearances for her upcoming film Happy New Year. One is her frequent collaborator, composer Vishal Dadlani and the other is filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. The duo are playing themselves and will be seen judging a reality show. Trouble begins when they go a little overboard.
Farah informs Mirror that when she bumped into Anurag at Mehboob Studio, he told her he'd like to play a part in one of her comedies since he is only associated with dark cinema.
"I was looking for someone to play a director and promptly offered him the role," says Farah, adding that she has known Anurag for several years. "He was supposed to write Main Hoon Na, but that didn't work out. I haven't worked with him before."
She promises that the cameos will have everybody in splits. "When we were filming the scenes, the two were overacting so much that we couldn't hold our laughter," she reminisces. But the fun was short-lived because the same day Shah Rukh Khan suffered a freak accident on the sets and had to hospitalised.
Obviously the day after Diwali. Diwali day has proven to again and again to lower BO collections-Ra.One had a 12-14 cr 1st day (Diwali) and a 25 crore 2nd day, same for JTHJ (and SOS) and K3 this year. SRK will probably release it on Friday-I remember for CE the original release date was Thursday but they switched it to Friday thankfully.
Shah Rukh Khan to distribute Happy New Year for Rs. 200 Cr
Shah Rukh Khan, apart from being a brilliant actor and an entertainer, is also a shrewd businessman. The actor who will soon be seen in Farah Khan’s Happy New Year already has big plans for the flick.
Reports are that Srk, who has invested heavily in the film, will sell the movie’s distribution rights for nothing less than 200 Cr. Apparently, Shah Rukh has an astute understanding of the market, which is why he hasn’t sold the rights of the movie to any corporation yet.
The Break-Up amount is as follows -- Satellite rights amounting to Rs. 75 Cr, Overseas Net Distribution Share Rs. 30 Cr, India’s Net Distribution Share Rs. 110 Cr, Film’s music Rs. 13 Cr and other rights amounting to Rs. 10 Cr.
The amount that will be recovered is Rs. 238 Cr, which will increase if the movie does phenomenally well. The film is set to release on Diwali which will automatically expand business by 15%-20%. Sources say that Shah Rukh will not compromise on the asked amount.
Currently, talks are on with EROS, Fox Star, Viacom18 and Reliance.
^Agreed. I doubt he'll work with Eros especially after JTHJ-SOS. He should use UTV again, they were the best. He could go higher than 200 crores because 30 crores distributors share for overseas is very low, it could be more than double at 60-70 crores.
someone called morgantanner seems to have worked on HNY in some capacity (she looks so young!) and has tweeted about her experiences, but it's on webstagram & I dont want to follow her to read it. anyone else see it?
Honey Singh-Shahrukh Khan team up again for Farah Khan's HAPPY NEW YEAR February 11, 2014 03:25:46 PM IST By Urvi Parikh, Glamsham Editorial

Sarah-Jane Dias bags cast honour in Shahrukh-Farah Khan's HAPPY NEW YEAR Glamsham – 7 hours ago By Joginder Tuteja, Glamsham Editorial
HAPPY NEW YEAR now has another actress joining the fun. The young woman in question is Sarah-Jane Dias, who was last seen in raunchy adult comedy ' KYAA SUPER KOOL HAIN HUM.'
Confirms our source, "Yes, she has joined the film's cast. In fact as we talk, she has already been shooting for it."
The film also brings her together with Abhishek Bachchan, with whom she had debuted in GAME, a few years back. While in the Abhinav Deo directed film, she was paired opposite Bachchan Jr., it is not quite the case in HAPPY NEW YEAR. She isn't paired opposite Shahrukh Khan either as that slot has been taken by Deepika Padukone.
"Hers is a very interesting character in the film, even though she isn't a romantic interest of either Shahrukh or Abhishek," our source adds.
It wasn't a straight forward entry for Sarah into the film though. She had go through auditions and had been in talks with Farah Khan for over six months, now. However when she was zeroed in for the film, she refrained from making much noise about it.
Considering her background, it is but obvious that Sarah would be making a glamorous appearance in the film. This also means that Sarah, who had been off the big screen after the success of KYAA SUPER KOOL HAI HUM, would now have four releases in a single year with O TERI, HAPPY NEW YEAR, ANGRY INDIAN GODDESSES and another untitled film. When contacted, Farah Khan confirmed that Sarah is indeed a part of the cast of HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Makers of 'Happy New Year' ban use of mobile phones on sets
Security on the sets of Farah Khan's upcoming film, 'Happy New Year', has been beefed up. It seems that a few pictures shot on the sets of the film were recently leaked and this prompted the makers to tighten security on the sets.
A source says that the film’s shoot at a Mumbai studio started off smoothly but when word spread that Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone were shooting together, the burgeoning crowd meant that extra security had to be summoned to control the situation.
The producers then went on to ban the use of mobile phones on the film’s sets in a bid to prevent the film’s look from getting leaked.
The source adds that a few extras had recently shot photographs of the two stars on the sets of the film and these images were then leaked. “Some background dancers had been called from outside and they clicked some pictures. This upset the producers as they don’t want to reveal the film’s look at this juncture. They have now banned the use of cell phones on the sets of the film. In fact, this ban was announced earlier on but the makers are stricter about it now,” says the source. Director Farah Khan remained unavailable for comment.

Last year when I was approached to write songs for the film, I was a little apprehensive and thought that the release date was close enough. But later Farah told me that the release date was far away and this is why I agreed to do the film."
The music of the film is composed by Vishal Shekhar. Popular singer Arijit Singh shall be lending his voice to a special track for the film.
