Its an awesome collection figure. Does anyone know about onsite collection ? Anyways the real test starts from Monday only if it can clock around 20 on Monday then good enough or else it will be struggle... Congrats to all SRK fans for unprecedented Day 1 collections
Onsite? Are you in IT
20 crore Monday is not possible. It is not a universal holiday, so anything 15 crore and above is good.
Yes that's a real bad one from me. I am like ROFL now reading it again. It may be just out of excitement after seeing 44.97 figure. I actually meant overseas figure as it opened a day before in Gulf and other markets. And yes I am from IT
Yesterday 6 pm onwards till 11.45 pm each and every show was housefull which never happened during multiplex era. Today too looking very strong expecting 40 +. I want to hear UAE result. Going at 3.30 pm with full of excitement.
Happy New Year managed a huge first day grossing around the 40 crore nett mark and managed a to put up new circuit records in most circuits. The ones to miss out were Rajasthan, Nizam/Andhra, Tamil Nadu/Kerala and Bihar.
Rajasthan was technically a record but as there is tax in the circuit now, the nett number was less than Dhoom 3. Circuits like CP Berar and CI set new records by a few lakhs but bigger circuits beat by bigger distances. Mumbai record was 12.10 crore nett of Singham Returns and Chennai Express is looking at a figure of 13.50 crore nett. Delhi/UP is looking around 6.75 crore nett beating the 6 crore nett of Dhoom 3. East Punjab grossed 3.51 crore nett beating the 2.92 crore nett of Dhoom 3.
Nizam/Andhra and Tamil Nadu/Kerala fell short of the figures recorded by Chennai Express while Bihar was less than Singham Returns. Saturday is another holiday in many parts of the country and it is important that the film holds well which will ensure it is a major winner with Monday to decide whether the film can emerge a blockbuster.
In fact, technically, it was NOT a holiday even in India. People take the day off, but it isn't like offices are closed for that day. So this should really count as a non-holiday opening, but in a holiday period
The good thing here is that since YRF is also the distributor for ETT and Dhoom 3, the numbers will not be very different from the BOI numbers. That adds a lot of credibility. Bhaitards and Tingustanis have gone underground. Some Bhaitards are in such a daze that they continue to talk about things like acting, script, screenplay etc. Can't blame them.
Box-office: Happy New Year earns Rs. 45 crore on opening day, breaks all records
Oct 25, 2014, 11.12 AM IST
The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Happy New Year' has opened to a phenomenal response at the box-office. Directed by Farah Khan, the movie has managed to break all earlier records on the opening day itself. A Koimoi.com report says that the film has done a whopping business of over 44.97 crores on Friday itself.
The report adds that HNY has collected Rs 42.62 cr in Hindi, 1.43 crore in its Telugu version and 0.92 crore in its Tamil version.
Though the critics have rated the film as average, Shah Rukh's charisma, Deepika-SRK's chemistry, the peppy music, a dynamic cast and excellent marketing strategies have ensured that the movie gets an excellent opening at the box-office.
The report in Koimoi.com further states that earlier, Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 earned the highest opening day collections at the box-office, followed by SRK's Chennai Express. But seems like Happy New Year has created a new record. For more updates on the movie's BO collections, keep reading this space for more.
Happy New Year 2nd Day Saturday Box Office Collections – Early Trends
October 25, 2014 0
According to early trends, Happy New Year Second (2nd) Day Box office collections should be in the range of 37-38 cr. HNY Day 2 Saturday business looks to be the second highest single day collections ever. The movie has dropped just 10 % from Friday morning shows and that is earth shattering in any terms. It has all probability of touching 40 cr today and if that happens then it will be huge and record breaking in every way The film is humongous in Mumbai, Delhi/Up and East Punjab. The power of Shah Rukh Khan and his fan base among multiplex audience is clearly being seen with Happy New Year doing earth shattering business even today in multiplexes and bumper in single screens. The film is doing bumper business in mass belts like Rajasthan, CP-Berar, Bihar and CI. The film is mind boggling in Gujarat, West Bengal where new record are being set. There is a partial holiday in parts of the country due to Bhai Dooj (Delhi/UP, West Bengal, CP Berar, CI etc) and Happy New Year should be able to utilize it to hilt. If the the late evening and night shows turns out extremely well because Sunday is a Holiday then Happy New Year might have two 40 cr single day collections which will be historic for Bollywood.
