I like how there is little to no details about the script of Dilwale....
I hope they keep it that way too when the promotions starts, and not like HNY where they practically gave away the whole damn story in the promotions. SRK tends to reveal much more than it is asked which sometimes kills the curiosity of the film and you cant have that in this social media age.
The young stars will romance to a number choreographed by Farah Khan More on: Filmfare
After choreographing a larger than life and extravagant song sequence for Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in Iceland, ace choreographer and director Farah Khan will be working on yet another song for Rohit Shetty's December release, Dilwale.
After giving hit numbers like Suraj Hua Madham for the hit jodi of SRK and Kajol, the choreographer couldn't refuse her actor friend Shah Rukh when he asked her to recreate the magic for Dilwale. A source close to the development added, "Farah who has since turned director, made an exception for her favourite actor, agreeing to choreograph this song. And SRK was so impressed with it that he insisted she make Varun and Kriti dance to her tunes too at Ramoji Film City. But this one will be a younger number with more ishq, vishk, pyaar, mohabbat." Word is that the song will have a lot of lifts in it, with Varun's character sweeping Kriti off her feet, quite literally!
When asked to talk about the song, Farah Khan added, in her signature good-natured style, "I cannot reveal anything about the song, but I think it's all a saajish, a conspiracy, by Shah Rukh and Rohit to keep me away from making movies. Every time I sit down to write a film, they bring me back to choreograph a new song. How can I ever say no?" Well, now we're definitely looking forward to watch these songs when they hit the big screen on 18th December. www.filmfare.com/news/varun-and-kriti-dance-to-farahs-tunes-10445.html
Saina Nehwal’s visit early on sure seems to have its effect on the cast and crew of Dilwale — Shah Rukh Khan and director Rohit Shetty’s upcoming flick. Much of the shoot is currently on in Hyderabad and recently, the actors were seen taking a break from the hectic 50-day schedule.
Shah Rukh was seen sweating it out playing badminton while Rohit Shetty was busy with volleyball with his bunch of assistant directors at Ramoji Film City here. SRK is a known fitness enthusiast and Rohit Shetty, too, insists his staff stay healthy and alert during long shoots out of Mumbai.
Also, during Saina’s visit the champ had gifted the Bollywood veteran a badminton racquet — she’ll be glad the gift is being put to good use.
Just a bit of speculation, and excuse me if its been said before, but I'm almost 100% positive we'll see the first Dilwale trailer & poster on SRK's birthday.
It's a possibility but I think they are making a big mistake by delaying the promotions. November 2 trailer release will only give around 40 days exposure which is not good enough.
It's definitely not enough time. I would prefer that the trailer releases in October maybe around the 20th or so ... And the music releases on his birthday November 2nd. That way the promotions are almost 2 months . Oct 20 to Dec 18th.
I still hope the trailer comes this month. Fingers crossed.
Whats with release the trailers of Fan,Raeez that are out next year and not having anything on Dilwale? As it is its a crowded box office. Prem Ratan is guaranteed to be taking up mindshare and then theres Tamasba ,Bajirao and Dangal . Hope Dilwale gets its Publicity Strategy right.
With every release of his, Shah Rukh Khan is known to open up newer markets for Bollywood and Dilwale is no exception. While the film’s promotional campaign is yet to take off, Red Chillies Entertainment, which is venturing into distribution with this film, has already locked a lucrative deal for the upcoming release in Nepal. Darshan Arts has bagged the screening rights for Dilwale at an unprecedented number and will be distributing the film in Nepal.
Exhibitor Davangere, part of the Mysore distribution circuit, has paid a record minimum guarantee for procuring the screening rights of Dilwale. In Mysore, the film is being distributed by Bahar Films. Promising feedback such as this from the film trade in South India points to the tremendous buzz around Dilwale even before its first promo has been released.
Strike halts shoot of ‘Dilwale’, ‘Dangal’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’; have Aamir Khan, SRK’s support: FWICE President
Speaking exclusively to Indian Express on the same, Kamlesh Pandey, President of of FWICE said: "Shooting in Hyderabad, Cochin, and everywhere else have stopped. he strike announced by the FWICE — Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees, has brought shooting of many big-ticket Bollywood films to a screeching halt including SRK’s Dilwale, Aamir Khan’s Dangal, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani and Ashutosh Gowariker’s Mohenjodaro starring Hrithik Roshan.
Speaking exclusively to Indian Express on the same, Kamlesh Pandey, President of of FWICE said: “Shooting in Hyderabad, Cochin, and everywhere else have stopped. Our main body, federation of All India Film Employees Confederation (AIFEC) met us a couple of days back and pledged their support. It was decided that if anyone decides to shoot outside Mumbai while the strike is in progress here, workers will strike there as well.”
When asked if any support has come forth from Aamir, SRK, and other bigwig producers, Kamlesh said: “Yes, Aamir, SRK, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ashutosh Gowariker, Vipul Shah and all other knowlegable people are supporting us. They know why we are striking and that is why they have stopped shooting.”
Life imitates cinema and cinema imitates life. The saying holds true for Shah Rukh Khan, currently shooting his home production Dilwale in Hyderabad with Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon and Varun Sharma.
The actor, 9xe has exclusively learnt, will play a charming car modifier in the film.
The Badshaah star will be seen re-modelling cars to make them look fancy and extremely attractive, which is the reason plenty of fancy cars have been seen on the film's sets all throughout the shoot.
Dhawan Jr plays SRK's brother.
"SRK's character in Dilwale draws inspiration from three avenues. The fascination for cars comes from Ashok Kumar's character in Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi. The father-like elder brother aspect of the character has been sketched on the lines of Amitabh Bachchan's part in Hum. And the car modifier aspect of it comes from Dilip Chhabria, a renowned expert in the field who has also designed the most fancy vanity vans in the industry including almost every van that SRK has had in his tenure in the industry so far," says a source close to the project.
Shah Rukh Khan and #BomanIrani spotted shooting a scene together
Deccan Chronicle | October 23, 2015, 16.58 pm IST Mumbai: With shooting for Rohit Shetty’s ‘Dilwale’ nearing its end, the cast and crew have taken their shoot indoors. We caught a few pictures of the film’s lead actor Shah Rukh Khan and his co-star Boman Irani on the film’s Hyderabad sets.
The team is currently shooting the final instalment in Ramoji film city, in what appears to be a church or cathedral. Last week, Varun Dhawan was clicked while shooting a song sequence in the same location. This time around, a fan managed to get a picture with Shah Rukh and Boman while they waited in the lawn for their shoot to begin. The two actors were seen dressed in contrasting colours for this scene. While we know Shah Rukh has some action packed scenes, details of Boman’s character is still under wraps. The same can be said for the film’s supporting actors Kabir Bedi, Boman Irani, Sanjay Mishra, Vinod Khanna and Johnny Lever.
The luck fan also managed to a picture with Varun, who spends his free time bulking up in the gym. The film that also stars Kajol and Kriti Sanon, is all set to release on December 18.
On the sets of the forthcoming #Dilwale, in Hyderabad, #ShahRukhKhan unveils footage from the film and discusses why he doesn’t believe in the enigma of stardom
“We haven’t done this before,” Shah Rukh Khan tells a few of us invited to the sets of Dilwale at #RamojiFilmCity. We are in a set that would be #SRK’s house in the film and he’s about to show us raw footage from the film. “The visual effects and DI (digital intermediate) are yet to be done, so don’t judge the end product by what you see,” he says. SRK is taking the next step in marketing, not wanting to wait till the end of the project to start the promotional campaign.
The footage that follows unveils a song sequence shot in Iceland, where director Rohit Shetty recreates the SRK-Kajol magic, a tad reminiscent of ‘Suraj hua maddham’ from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham; an action sequence that has SRK bashing up goons in a warehouse, a scene involving SRK and Kajol in Bulgaria, and snatches of songs featuring the younger duo — Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.
If the 20-odd minute footage is anything to go by, Dilwale is another entertainer with Rohit Shetty’s signature style of using luxury wheels and the vibrant streets of Goa. In fact, the house set is built in Goan style, decked with photographs of SRK, Varun Dhawan and Vinod Khanna. Miniature models of cars are part of the décor. Books on automobiles (none of them are real books) occupy coffee tables and shelves. A courtyard overlooks an idyllic neighbourhood. The Goan set is also a part of the song sequences involving Varun and Kriti. There’s also an automobile garage with several luxury wheels. The team has been shooting in Hyderabad for a month, and will soon move to Goa.
#Kajol and SRK take in adulatory messages for their new song sequence, incidentally, on the day that marked 20 years of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. “People talk about our romance and chemistry. But between us, we’ve covered different genres, from Baazigar through Karan Arjun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and K3G, and My Name is Khan. Each time, we push ourselves to do better and have reached a stage where we can criticise each other when we feel we aren’t up to the mark,” says #ShahRukh.
Dilwale is Kajol’s first film with Rohit Shetty, but she’s known him since Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha. She agrees she’s picky even with the closest of director friends, “I felt the need to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. I liked the idea Rohit pitched to me.”
With Dilwale, slated to release on December 18, Shah Rukh wants to ensure high footfalls in the cinema halls. “A film has to be technically good to draw people to the cinemas. My friends Adi (Aditya Chopra) and Karan (Johar) ask me why I spend so much making a film. I do it because people spend a lot to watch a film. If a project is for a niche audience, it should mentally stimulate the viewer.”
Teaming up with #VarunDhawan
A recent knee injury came as a dampener. Nevertheless, he commends #RohitShetty for having a team that designs action sequences to the precision, to rule out mishaps. “In the action footage that you saw, he didn’t bring my legs into the picture at all and it still looks convincing.”
Varun Dhawan chips in, “But there are other scenes where he is jumping and doing complete action scenes.” For Dhawan, who is swiftly rising after BO winners like Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya and ABCD2, and balancing it with the more cerebral Badlapur, the opportunity to work with SRK and Kajol was enough to be a part of Dilwale. “I trained with Barry John just like Shah Rukh and when I came to the sets to enact an emotional scene, prepared with all that learning, he told me to forget everything and take a fresh approach,” says Varun. On the other hand, he remarks jovially about Kajol’s seemingly casual approach: “My previous co-stars called me, keen to know how Kajol performs intense scenes; all I remember is her laughing throughout before the camera was on.”
Before winding up the interaction, Shah Rukh says he likes the transformation brought about by social media. “It is a leveller. On twitter, I get appreciation and abuse directly from people. When I entered the industry, movie stars had to be mysterious, enigmatic. I feel the accessibility we see today will make way for regular guys who think of cinema as a regular job.”
* I will be turning 50 soon. People tell me that 40, 50 and 75 are landmark years. I don’t think so. It’s just another year.
* I’ve stopped posting photographs of my children on social networks since #Gauri feels they shouldn’t be in the public space. I see her point of view: my children have to make a name for themselves. Now and then I retweet what someone else posts on my children, but I am trying not to do that as well.
* I was at the right time at the right place. In the 90s, the Indian diaspora was missing home and got attached to the kind of films we made. Indian cinema grew overseas. Once, I was talking to two elderly women in a German television channel and asked them why they telecast my films. One of them told me that they have a button for coffee, for elevators, everything, but they don’t have a button for crying. They said my films are a trigger to induce tears. The West, maybe, has fewer such moments of being overtly emotional, and loves this from Indian cinema. m.thehindu.com/features/metroplus/shah-rukh-khan-social-media-is-a-leveller/article7796699.ece
Dilwale will see the magical pair of Shah Rukh and Kajol coming together again on the silver screen
Year 2015 has marked two decades since the iconic Bollywood romantic entertainer “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” (DDLJ) released. The film is still being screened at a Mumbai theatre. The movie’s leading man Shah Rukh Khan holds the film close to his heart, but says there are better films that were made and will be made. “There are better films that were made and will be made than DDLJ. Yes, realistically and practically speaking, maybe there won’t be any films that will run for 20 years now because of strong digital world, but it’s not that there will be no films better than DDLJ,” the 49-year-old told IANS.
“I am sure there will be 100 films better because all of us (actors and filmmakers) would try to give better than the best with every film,” the ‘King of Romance’ said on the sidelines of the shooting of his next film “Dilwale”. The team has been shooting the last leg of the film in Hyderabad for a month.
Directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, “Dilwale” will see the magical pair of Shah Rukh and Kajol coming together again on the silver screen and treating their fans with their onscreen chemistry, which has in the past come alive in films like “Baazigar”, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” and “My Name Is Khan”.
Here, Shah Rukh was immersed in giving a few select media persons a dekko into “Dilwale” at the Ramoji Film City.
Screened for the media persons was a 20-minute video footage, featuring a song sequence shot in Iceland, recreating the magic of SRK and Kajol; an action sequence of SRK; a few comical scenes involving Johnny Lever, Sushir Mishra and Varun Sharma; and even scenes and songs featuring Varun and Kriti Sanon.
Asked if “Dilwale” has the potential to repeat the magic of 20-year long run of “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge”, SRK, who’s also a successful film producer, said: “I dont think (so), as time has changed.”
“When we started the film (DDLJ) in 1990′s, there was this concept of golden jubilee, silver jubilee and platinum jubilee. Now the function has changed and that era is over. I think audience is more accessible now and also the number of theatres are more. Unfortunately, nowadays we talk about two weeks only,” he said.
Citing examples of Aamir Khan starrer “PK”, Salman Khan starrer “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” and Prabhas starrer “Baahubali”, he said: “There were 150 theatres in the past and now the number has increased to over 40,000. As many as 11 to 12 crore people watch big films like ‘PK’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Baahubali’. Also, it’s nothing to do with numbers, but accessibility.”
Kajol talks about how Shah Rukh who takes care of everyone on the sets of Dilwale doesn't care about himself too much and the reason he choose #Dilwale
From Baazigar to Dilwale, nothing much has changed between Shah Rukh and Kajol expect the way they look. Till today like a dotting and true friend Kajol cares for Srk. So when Kajol who is reuniting with Shah Rukh after five years with Dilwale was asked what is the one thing that has changed about Srk, Kajol said, “There is a lot that hasn’t changed at all. One thing is that he is more than 300% percent present at every shoot he is present. I am amazed with the energy he has. But yes he has no care for himself.”
Not only this, she also said that if anyone has to be credited for the beautiful bond that the actors present on the sets of Dilwale shares it has to be Shah Rukh Khan.
“Shah Rukh just has his way of getting people together and not letting anything come into the way of our work. The bonding, the glue that you see between us is all because of Shah Rukh.” said Kajol.

So this is something which I could not have predicted about myself. I wanted to do something that I had not done before. Of course there was a comfort zone working with Shah Rukh and Rohit. I just felt it fit perfectly for the time.”
10 things we LOVED about Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s Iceland song from Dilwale!
Sun, October 25, 2015 7:40am IST by Tushar P Joshi
We bring you an EXCLUSIVE sneak peek into one of the HOTTEST songs of the year! BollywoodLife had the exciting opportunity of attending a special screening for one of the hottest films of 2015. Shah Rukh Khan along with director Rohit Shetty and his co-stars Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Varun Sharma, Johnny Lever and the technicians of Dilwale hosted a special screening where we got to watch parts of the film and the mind blowing song Farah Khan choreographed in Iceland.
Here are 10 things from the song that simply blew our heads off!
The song is one of the most beautifully shot tracks of recent times. You can’t take your eyes off those majestic locales from Iceland. There is an international feel to the way the song has been choreographed and both Farah and Rohit have done an amazing job of capturing the elusive beauty of Iceland. Don’t be surprised if you see other filmmakers rushing to the country to shoot their forthcoming songs.
Shah Rukh-Kajol’s chemistry
A lot has been written and talked about Shah Rukh and Kajol’s mesmerising chemistry. There is no one like them and this fact couldn’t be more true once you see the song. Think of Suraj Hua Madham and now amplify the magical chemistry they shared in that song ten fold! The minute he comes running towards her and they lock eyes, you are done! These two can set the screen on fire by simply playing a game of who blinks first. Absolutely killer chemistry.
The song will turn out to be one of the biggest hits on radio and the music charts. Pritam has composed a song that is not only melodious but it also stands the test of time. It has love, longing, innocence and shades of yearning for each other that has sort of become a signature pattern of a Pritam track. Also the best thing is that it doesn’t sound like any other Shah Rukh- Kajol track and that in itself in a huge achievement. You will be humming the chorus of this song for the rest of the next year!
Mind blowing special effects!
After Game of Thrones, if anyone else has captured Iceland beautifully then it is Rohit Shetty. The song has a lot of VFX and special effects that makes it stand apart from anything you have seen. However, the visuals are not over the top or jarring, there is a certain cohesiveness to the way the song has been conceptualised. In one shot Shah Rukh and Kajol are holding each other against the backdrop of a massive waterfall with a silhouette of a stunning rainbow. In another frame the are standing atop parts of a broken aeroplane with the sky glimmering with hues of neon and green. A real treat for you eyes!
Shah Rukh and Kajol have reverse aged in the song! Even in their close ups they look so young and full of energy. Kajol looks stunning, she’s wearing a lot of sarees and also some really well-styled dresses. Shah Rukh looks dapper in his jacket. Special attention has been paid to the way these two look in the song. There styling and costumes is something that definitely stands out in the song.
Farah Khan’s magic
This is a signature Farah Khan song, yet unlike anything she has done before. It isn’t Suraj Hua Madham, it is somewhere between being dark edgy and also absolutely romantic and full of life. There isn’t much dancing, because you don’t need that when you have SRK and Kajol professing undying love to each other!
Shah Rukh and Kajol are looking super fit in the songs and the clothes compliment their bodies. In fact Kajol has lost oodles of weight and is in her best form ever. SRK has his trainer Prashant Sawant ensure that he looks killer in the film. When you have youngsters Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in the same film you can’t afford to look unfit. So that’s one more thing that you will notice in the song.
As we mentioned earlier the camera work is simply outstanding! The song has a lot of overhead as well as wide angle frames. There are frames where SRK and Kajol’s black outfits stand out against the icy plains of Iceland. It is easily one Rohit Shetty and Farah Khan’s best work till date. A lot will be written about the technique and style in which the song is shot. It is also Shah Rukh’s most visually appealing song of recent times.
The concept of using a broken down aeroplane is just fantastic. He’s danced on the roof of a train in Farah’s Chaiyya Chaiyya from Dil Se and now she’s made him dance on top of the wing of a plane. The idea works because it looks stylish and is something that hasn’t been done before. There is also a scene where he rides this mean bike and looks stunning. You really can’t have a Rohit Shetty film without cars and bikes can you?
Shah Rukh’s charisma
There are these slow motion shots of Shah Rukh giving us his signature moves and those are the money making bits in the song. The whole track is built on the idea of eternal romance and undying love. You can literally sense how much SRK and Kajol have immersed themselves in the song when you see it. Despite the freezing temperatures and a not so friendly terrain, SRK has managed to retain his charisma and charm that has had his swooning over him for years. This track is only going to make it more difficult for us to resist ourselves from succumbing to that irresistible charm and dimpled smile.
