We went to see it in the cinema hoping they would show his whole speech. They only showed half and edited all the humor and interesting stories out of it. Lost the flavor of him completely. We wrote to TED and said, why are they closing pirated versions but not posting it and they said, "soon," Would anyone reading this PLEASE contact TEDtalks and ask them to post. If they get enough, they'll do it sooner rather than later.

It is absolutely UNTRUE. Not only does she have to finish High School, she also has to complete college. He has said this OVER and OVER and OVER again. Since he self describes as very few rules for him (that's Gauri's job) I'm sure this rule is sacred in that family.
I actually found this upsetting. First of all, whoever found it, it was ill-gotten (not you guys, its been all over the internet). Someone at the school unwisely posted it. Second, this has to be 8th grade which is 2 years ago. She goes to an English boarding school which a) would not use chicken biryani as part of a joke and b) probably wouldn't have a completely Indian cast. So, this is old and doubly unfair for whoever put it out there to do so. Much of twitter is acting as if it was recent. I am sure she and her acting has matured. If you see it anywhere do remind them that this is not current.
Frankly, I think the proof is in SRK's own reactions. If he has a celebration party which he DOES NOT do for every film, it means he views it as success. To him success means he has made money for all people invested in it and it was well liked by the audience. His sadness over Fan was not that it didn't make money (He no longer ever loses money on a film no matter how expensive because he doesn't pay himself, he gets distribution and placement and satellite etc up front) but he was hoping for critical success with Fan. He was hoping for a filmfare for his acting. Thats why he calls Fan a failure, not box office. He knew it was niche. As to Raees, if he is treating like a success, it must be. The box office numbers are so skewed and biased its very hard to decipher.

If I'm not mistaken a fan told me that she was the one who wrote that SRK is finished in 2000 as HR had just entered BW, and it was a huge headline in one of the newspapers.
Yes, I think she said that in her review of Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani.
I know this is a late reply, but I missed it. Thank you for clearing that up. I have been wondering. He's referred to it more than once. I hate that he gives her such great interviews which she posts and posts again to her benefit and then she pans all his films even if they are good.

All I have to say is please neither Priyanka or Kangana. Both are trouble for different reasons. Priyanka, probably through no fault of her own, will dredge up all those awful (false) stories and Kangana while a strong actress, dredges up trouble wherever she goes. How about Vidya or Juhi or Madhuri...all fine actresses...still younger than him....

I love Paheli too. He does AGAIN a brilliant. It makes me crazy that he only talks about that film as a flop. (it was the one that did Dreamz Unlimited in) but he is so so good in it and Rani is luminous. Why does he have to wait years for his films to be recognized: Dil Se, Swades are NOW being spoken of as classics and films like Sultan are touted.....I don't understand.

Neeran, I don't often get involved in these kind of discussions, but I have to admit I agree with you. Rather than brave and bold, Karan's columns just seem angry and sad. People "in the know" are probably busy discussing who they think he means. I imagine we can guess the source of his loneliness, anger and frustration, but this just seems sad.
Qureshi, Ujjwala and Rajdoot, I sense that you all are tired of SRK's condescending remarks in the interview and I really understand that. However, could it be that Shah Rukh is also tired of trying to please a fickle public that is never satisfied with his films, no matter how many times he tries to introduce a new avatar? Movie reviewers and members of the general pubic have given a thumbs down to most, if not all, of his films since 2010 to the present. Think about it, that's quite a few films. How many of them did YOU like? He is the most experimental of the actors and one of the greatest risk takers in Indian film industry. But sadly, all of his attempts are met with some cheers and a whole lot of jeers. He is a sensitive person so I wonder how many tears he has shed over his publicly perceived failures and his inability to satisfy his fans or to satisfy an irascible general audience? What would you do if you were in his place?
What am I trying to say? I'm asking those of us who belong to this organization to be patient with him. We are his die-hard fans. He appears to be going through deep, dark waters at this time. Evidence:He is in constant pain (and that can change your personality); he no longer wears his wedding band (who knows what that means???); he is constantly being told that his best days are behind him ( have they forgotten Amitji??); he doesn't (according to King Khan himself) get enough sleep and he looks exhausted most of the time (I hope his break from film making helped him regain his grounding). I pray that he gets to a better place. Until then I am staying put, because Shah Rukh is my hero and I know he will come out of this dark place if we keep sending positive energy his way.
Don't lash me too much 8-)!
Geeta, you've touched on all the things that been concerning in the recent years: the pain, the wedding band, the exhaustion, the constant criticism which no on else gets. I for one am just going to love him and we each movie as often as possible and as you say , send positive energy his way. Thank you for such a thoughtful post.
Those films were all early on and I think he had the power to say no after that. I also think Yash Chopra had to cajole him into the kissing in JTHJ and it wasn't that successful, so he may go back to that rule. There is a great moment in one of the 'making of JTHJ" videos of the scene in the Tube. SRK is sitting down and Yashji is holding both his hands. SRK has this funny grin on his face. I've always suspected the shot was taken right before or right after the kissing scene which he was reluctant to do. Of course, if this warrior has to be on a horse, he'll do it.
I taught the children of a very famous American star at the height of his stardom. He would come to school plays and slip in after the lights went down and leave before the lights went up so as not to cause a stir and take anything away from his children. But, the people most protective of his children where their classmates. They NEVER revealed anything about the star, his house etc even though they often were there. I am very glad to hear Aryan's classmates did the same. And, I do see why both Suhana and Aryan had to go away to school. I wonder where Aryan will go to University.
Thanks for the explanation. I watched the video; kind of shocking that Salman was SO insulted by that. Seems weird. Also, maybe the song was cut by Adi for other reasons. We only have the singer's word for it. Correct? That letter is very strange.
